Keepers
We are all indigenous to this land as we are all Mother Earth’s children, and yet we have the responsibility of honoring those who have come before us who have been taken from this land. We have the gift of living on this land and the responsibility of asking forgiveness for what has happened upon this land by our brothers and sisters. Mother Earth has seen it all—great migrations, great atrocities, clashes, wars and death. She has also seen great healings happen upon her land. Roots put down, families growing together, spring flowers after summer fires, dry autumn and winter storms. We are all indigenous to this land. Our responsibility is to act as keepers of this land, not owners. We are all stewards of this land. Our gift is to receive what Mother Earth gives us and help build trust and kindness between us and the land again. Whenever our ancestors started their great journey upon this earth, we have landed here, now. Ask the land below your feet what it needs to feel free of past transgressions. Ask the land below your feet what it needs to feel connected to the people again. Touch your forehead to the land and feel the energy of your land. You have the gift of receiving all of the beautiful energy of Mother Earth through your feet, your hands and your heart. You are a part of this land. Remember your responsibilities and your gifts.
