Mirror
We all have purpose, we all have a particular strength, we all have a reason for being here. Sharing with others our purpose in meaningful ways is one of the most rewarding acts we can do. Knowing within ourselves that we have purpose is one of the keys to our self-worth. Seeking out the purpose in others is also a key to unveiling the self-worth in us all. Searching for purpose in the most challenging beings we encounter is also a path towards understanding ourselves, as when we encounter the natural world and possibly see beauty but see something else in the man made world, we are looking at the pieces of a mirror. As a species, we have created monuments, spectacles, shelters, and many alterations to the natural world. These are reflections of us and part of our stamp on the world. We cannot claim the pyramids without claiming the trash in the ocean, we cannot claim our beautiful houses without accepting responsibility for the waste that goes into building. Beyond our personal purpose, at some level we are all responsible for all the creations of humankind. At some level it is our purpose to shift our thinking of ‘better than’ and see that all beings have purpose, and that our responsibility is great because we have quite a bit of agency.
What can we each do today to act upon our personal purpose and our shared purpose as humans? How can we act with agency to make our world a better place?
